Black Arrows is the solo project of Aliki Karveli, a Greek-born, London-devoured multidisciplinary artist whose work spans visual arts, 3D, music and performance. Through Black Arrows, Aliki creates hypnotic soundscapes by blending voice, diverse instruments, field recordings and sonified objects through contact microphones. Their tactile, synaesthetic approach often uses materials such as bones, shells, glass, metal surfaces, horns and antlers to form rich, organic textures, layered live through looping.

Black Arrows moves between structured compositions and more dynamic, improvisational sound journeys. Aliki’s setup includes frame drums, flutes, electric and acoustic guitar, synth, shruti box, singing bowls and other resonant objects. Elements of chthonic lyricism, dream-prose and spoken word are woven into the work, with soundscapes gradually unfolding into songs.

An exhibiting artist since 2018, Aliki’s solo show at The Crypt Gallery in October 2023 featured multimedia sonic ritual performances that further developed their immersive, multi-sensory approach.

Black Arrows has released 20 EPs, including home recordings, live sets and collaborations, and has performed at dozens of events and festivals across the UK, Italy and Greece. Aliki has appeared alongside Toby Driver (Kayo Dot), Dalila Kayrós, UKAEA, and others, and has been invited to perform by curators such as IKLECTIK, Crux AV, Chaos Theory, Poetry Brothel and Temporary Autonomous Art.
